Atlanta man killed in a semi crash near Leon

An Atlanta man was killed Tuesday morning when he lost control of the semi truck he was driving and crashed near Leon in Butler County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Nicholas T. Lindly, 33, was dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred on Cole Creek Rd. about three miles south of Leon. He was the only person involved.

Lindly was not wearing a safety restraint.

Around 7:40 a.m., Lindly was northbound when he lost control of the 2002 International rig and overturned into a ditch. The truck was hauling a tanker trailer loaded with liquid fertilizer.

No further explanation was provided as to why Lindly lost control of the vehicle.
