Stoll named full-time Winfield fire chief Mon.

Alan Stoll became full-time fire chief for the city of Winfield Monday after having served in an interim chief role for nearly 17 months.

He had been assistant fire chief and fire marshal since 2008 and was named interim chief late in 2010 when Curtis Wilson retired from the department.

Stoll will have a base salary of $68,452 and receive $350 for a monthly vehicle allowance, plus benefits city employees regularly receive. He was the only internal candidate to the seek the position, according to city manager Warren Porter.

“The City of Winfield conducted a regional search for a Fire Chief for our community,” Porter said. “Alan did an outstanding job through the interview process and during his management and leadership as interim chief. We have some great members within the organization and we expect to continue to move forward.”

Stoll began employment with the City of Winfield Fire Department in 1990. He also serves as the chairperson of the Cowley County 911 board, serves on the regional arson strike force, is a board member on the South Central Kansas Fire Alliance, and serves on the Task Force 5 committee.

Alan and his wife DeeDee have a son Rigan.
