The Walnut Valley Quilters Guild will hold a birthday party this month to celebrate the founding of the group.
The annual event is set for 6 p.m. next Monday at Tisdale United Methodist Church on U.S. Highway 160 east of Winfield. Members are asked to bring a covered dish and table service.
In 1979, a group of quilters met at the Denton Art Center in Ark City to organize the guild. Each June, members of group meet to mark that anniversary. The guild now has about 150 members in several counties in south central Kansas and north central Oklahoma.
