Udall woman arrested for shooting up house

Authorities have arrested a Udall woman who is said to have shot up her own residence with a 22-caliber rifle Monday afternoon.

Around 5 p.m., officers were sent to a location on Kennedy Dr. in Udall in response to the report of a possible drug overdose. During the investigation, officers met with Colleen M. Ervin, 66, a resident of the home.

Both Ervin and her husband, who was not publicly identified by name, seemed to be acting odd as if they were under the influence of illegal drugs, undersheriff Bill Mueller said.

Eventually Ervin acknowledged she had fired several shots inside her home with the rifle. One of the rounds exited the residence and struck a home next door belonging to Ervin’s mother.

Ervin subsequently was arrested and is facing charges of criminal discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault. Her bond was set at $10,500 and she was still in jail as of Tuesday.

No injuries were reported.

The Udall Police Dept. is conducting an investigation into the incident.
