Pair arrested for bogus checks & stolen items

Two people were arrested on Thursday following an investigation that began when one of the suspects attempted to pass a fake check at Country Mart in Ark City.

Brooke G. Bradley, 33, of Edmond, Okla., could face charges of forgery, multiple counts of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond is set at $22,000 and she remained in jail Friday.

Lendon Saylor, 33, Ark City, was booked into jail on forgery and possession of stolen property charges. His bond is set at $19,000 and he is still in jail.

Police were called to the grocery store on Summit when Bradley allegedly tried to pass a fake check. She left the store and headed south in a red Chevy Tahoe before officers arrived.

Investigators caught up with Bradley inside the Dillons store in Ark City and during the course of an investigation recovered a number of counterfeit checks. Saylor was outside the store and in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Both suspects were taken into custody, according to a report from police, and a search was conducted on luggage and property belonging to them. That’s when stolen property and drug paraphernalia was recovered.

Police believe there were 19 total victims of forgery and theft in Kansas and Oklahoma.
