Cowley County Sheriff’s Report for October 15-19, 2015

October 15

Checked a vehicle in a parking lot that had been there for several days.

Report of a stray dog in the 19000 block of 71st.

Welfare check in the 13000 block of U.S. 160. No assistance was needed.

A sheriff’s deputy was the victim of a dog bite in the 31000 block of 55th.

Dispatched to the Kaw Wildlife are south of the Sleeth Addition for a report of illegal trash dumping.

Burglary and theft report in the area of 292nd and 251st.

Transported a prisoner for ACPD to the county jail.

Reported a stop sign that is blocked by trees in the are of the 6000 block of K-15.

Checked a pedestrian in the 15000 block of U.S. 77.

Arrested Annie Lynn Jett, F, W, 24, of Winfield, in the 1800 block of East 7th on a warrant for failure to appear. She was booked into the county jail where she has since posted bond and been released.

Civil process papers served, 22; traffic citations, 3; traffic warnings, 10; jail inmates received, 9; current jail population, 115.


October 16

Two-vehicle, non-injury accident in the 12000 block of U.S. 166.

Removed a dead deer from the 15000 block of 111th.

Removed a dead deer from the roadway in the 19000 block of 141st.

Report of a reckless driver in the 1700 block of Summit seen in a red 90s Suburban tailgating and heading southbound. The information was passed onto Kay County.

Report of a possible stolen vehicle in the 7000 block of State. The vehicle and driver were located but the car was not stolen. The driver was arrested for driving on a canceled or suspended driver’s license. Landon Todd Onek, M, W, 51, of Arkansas City, was booked into the county jail. He has since posted bond and been released.

Provided a funeral escort from Miles Funeral Service to the Burden Cemetery.

Report of illegal trash dumping in the 33000 block of 51st.

Two-vehicle, non-injury accident in the 14000 block of U.S. 160.

Report of unlawful voluntary sexual relations in the southern portion of the county.

Assisted with a parent running after a juvenile in the 1500 block of East 12th.

One-vehicle, non-injury accident in the 31000 block of U.S. 166 regarding a car vs deer.

Possible pedestrian under the influence in the 25000 block of U.S. 77. The pedestrian was not found.

Civil issue regarding child custody in the 11000 block of 142nd.

Stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of Loomis for an equipment violation. The driver, Lisandro Luquis-Olmo, M, W, 37, of Arkansas City, was arrested for driving under the influence and endangering a child as one of the passengers was 15 years old. He was booked into the county jail where he has since posted bond and been released.

Checked a vehicle in the 7000 block of K-15 that was in the ditch with its flasher on. The vehicle was off the roadway with no one around it.

Checked a vehicle in the 3000 block of K-15.

October 17

Checked on a vehicle in the 9000 block of 292nd that a roadside assistance company could not find. NO assistance was needed.

Report of a deer stuck in the fence in the 15000 block of 142nd.

Report of juveniles riding their bicycles in the roadway causing a traffic hazard in the 32000 block of 61st. No juveniles were found.

Report of two females and one male pedestrian where the male was pointing a handgun at the females in the 8000 block of 161st. The subjects were located and the gun was a BB gun. The three subjects were advised that kind of horseplay was not a good idea.

Motorist assist on the U.S. 77 bypass.


October 18

Cattle on the roadway in the 23000 block of U.S. 166.

Illegal trash dumping in the area of 12th and 61st.

Suspicious activity in the 18000 block of 41st regarding a black Buick Lucern that was parked near the caller’s driveway. When the caller tried to make contact the vehicle drove away slowly. The vehicle eventually left.

Welfare check in the 6000 block of 314th.

Checked a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of S. Main that was in the alley behind a church.

Motorist assist in the 8000 block of U.S. 166.

Report of a suspicious green light in the 11000 block of Hovespian Ln. and someone beating on the side of the caller’s home.

October 19

Report of flashlights around a residence that was supposed to be vacant in the 6000 block of 302nd. The property was checked and everything appeared to be alright.

Cattle on the roadway in the 18000 block of 151st.

Report of a juvenile runaway in the 11000 block of 292nd.

One-vehicle, non-injury accident in the 13000 block of U.S. 166 regarding a car vs deer.
