Local Man Gets 22 Years For Child Sex Crimes

An Ark City man has been sentenced to more than 22 years in prison after having been found guilty of multiple sex crimes involving underage girls.

37-year-old Darren L. Williams was sentenced Monday afternoon to 165 months on a count of rape, 61 months on one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and 41 months each on two other indecent liberties counts.

All of the sentences, with the exception of one of the aggravated indecent liberties counts, will run consecutively. That is a total of 267 months in prison.

Williams will get credit for 620 days he’s already spent in the Cowley County Jail. Upon release, he would be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

In July, Williams entered no-contest pleas to a count of rape and three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Multiple teenage victims are covered by the charges to which Williams pleaded.

The plea agreement allowed Williams to forego a trial in the case.

Williams was arrested early in 2016 on more than two-dozen sex-related crimes.
