Winfield Police Donate Retired Patrol Car to Southwestern College

The Winfield Police Department has donated a retired patrol car to the security department at Southwestern College.

“This will help make us more visible and provide a stronger security presence on campus,” Keith McLaughlin, lead security officer at Southwestern College, said.

The donated vehicle is a retired 2005 Ford Crown Victoria purchased by the city of Winfield in 2008 from the Kansas Highway Patrol and used for uniformed patrol until recently. It is being replaced by a new patrol car.

“The Winfield Police Department has historically enjoyed a good working relationship with the security department at Southwestern College,” Winfield Police Chief Brett Stone said. “Any opportunity to strengthen that relationship and provide a tool which potentially enhances security, visibility, and safety is a benefit for the campus and our city.”
