Man Seriously Injured In A Crash Near Udall Early This Morning

A man was seriously injured early this morning in an injury accident near Udall that brought an end to a pursuit that began in Butler County.

Rose Hill Police investigators believe the man – who was in his 60s – may have been suffering a medical episode that led him to drive off the roadway shortly after entering Cowley County. The crash happened around 3:10 a.m. at 11th Rd. and K-15 highway.

“He did not take the curve there and drove straight into a field,” acting Lt. Jason Conrad of the Rose Hill Police Dept., said. “At this point we believe there was a medical situation.”

An officer monitoring traffic in Rose Hill initially attempted to pull the vehicle over for speeding. The driver, who has not been publicly named, so far, did not stop.

There was no attempt to speed away, Conrad said, instead the drive maintained a mostly-consistent speed until the accident happened. The driver was said to suffer broken bones in the accident.

Butler and Cowley County sheriff’s departments assisted.
