The inmate’s death is believed to be due to a medical cause, however, an autopsy will be conducted Thursday to determine an official cause of death. Falletti said the inmate was alone in a cell that is monitored with a video camera.

“Some time, either with the camera or during a regular check, someone noticed the inmate was not moving at all,” Falletti said. “

Emergency crews were called to the jail just after 7 p.m. for the report of an unresponsive inmate.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been notified of the death.

Jail staff are attempting to reach family to make notification. No name, age or gender for the inmate has been made public by authorities, so far.

A death last month at the jail was ruled a suicide.
