Ark City Man Accused Of Threatening Woman With Gun This Morning

Local police arrested an Arkansas City man early Friday morning after he was accused of threatening a female with a handgun.

Jose DeJesus Ayala, 37, was arrested on suspicion of felony aggravated assault, as well as disorderly conduct and violation of a protective order, both of which are misdemeanors.

Ayala was transported to and booked into the Cowley County with bond set at $22,500.

He remains in custody.

Officers were dispatched around 3:16 a.m. today to 2002 North C St. for a report of a man pointing a gun at another person. He left the area prior to their arrival. The weapon was reported to be a pistol.

The female victim said she met the suspect, identified as Ayala, at the front door of her residence.

He produced the weapon, then said he wanted her and their son to return to his residence. She refused. He reportedly cycled the action of the gun and pointed it at her. Another person then called 911.

Police located Ayala while he was driving and conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of West Radio Lane. No firearm was recovered from the scene. He was arrested and taken into custody.
