Winfield Police Look For Suspect Who Ditched Stolen Minivan And Fled

Winfield Police are looking for a suspect who abandoned a stolen minivan in the middle of the street and fled officers on foot Tuesday afternoon.

The vehicle had been reported stolen in Sedgwick County. Police investigators are working with authorities in that county and believe they may know the suspect. No arrests have been made, thus far.

Around 2 p.m., an officer was called to Sixth and Manning in Winfield for the report of a man selling car batteries from his vehicle. The man was located at Winfield Iron and Metal but abruptly drove away as law enforcement arrived.

A very brief pursuit ensued and ended in the area of 12th and Manning. The suspect left the minivan in the middle of the road and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as being approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall with very short blonde hair. He was wearing a gray hoodie over a blue hoodie and had on gray pants.

Police were continuing to investigate Tuesday and were hoping to obtain video footage from the area.
