Adrian Ramirez, 24, of Oxford has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Amanda Villarreal, 24, of Winfield as the result of a rollover accident on Dec. 3, 2017, four miles northwest of Oxford.

Ramirez was released from Sumner County jail this weekend after posting bond. He is currently facing the manslaughter charge, as well as charges for driving under the influence, a misdemeanor; and two traffic infractions for speeding and failure to drive on the right side of the roadway.

About 4:30 a.m. that Sunday morning, Villarreal was a passenger in a 1990 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Ramirez who was southbound near the 400 block of N. River Road, when he lost control of the pickup while coming off 30th Ave.

According to the criminal complaint, filed in Sumner County Dist. Court in Wellington, Ramirez had a blood alcohol concentration of .12 and was “driving at a speed greater than what was reasonable and prudent approaching and going around the curve… on a gravel road.”

The complaint indicates he lost control of the pickup, entered the ditch, traveled 112 feet before hitting a double tubed culvert which caused his vehicle to roll at least once, up and over a driveway before coming to a rest.

The rolling of the vehicle caused Villarreal, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, to be ejected from the pickup. She suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash, including trauma to her chest that caused her subsequent death.

Ramirez, who was wearing a seat belt, was unhurt in the accident.

Villarreal was pronounced dead at the scene by Mulvane EMS.
