Three From WMS Make Clean Sweep At County Spelling Bee In Dexter

Winfield Middle Schoolers made their presence felt this week at the Cowley County Spelling Bee in Dexter. Students from the school were the top three placers.

Eighth grader Sabrina Wilson, a three-time city bee champion, won the spelling bee. She advances to represent the county at the Kansas State Spelling Bee, held the first weekend in March.

Seventh grader Tyler Gould took second and eighth grader Timothy Lee placed third.

Gould will also represent the county at the state bee. Fifth grader Amber Patel, a Lowell student, also represented Winfield.

“It was very exciting and rewarding to watch these students in action,” Whittier Elementary Principal, Marcia McIntire, said.
