Cowley County Sheriff’s Record for January 26-28, 2018

January 26

Deputy responded to 21237 Curtis Ave. for a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area. The vehicle was not found in the area.

Deputy was dispatched to the 6000 block of 221st Rd for a report of an illegal trash dumping. An individual reported someone dumped furniture on his property on 1/24/18 between 12:00pm and 2:00pm. After noticing the furniture a green/blue colored 1990’s model suburban was seen in the area pulling a flat bed trailer.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies responded the the area of 192nd Rd and 21st Road. An individual was following a male in a gray primer, low riding truck, he believed had just burglarized a residence. The male was lost but the individual was able to get a description of the male and a tag number from the vehicle. The male attempted to take a generator from a residence but was unable to steal anything before being seen.

Deputy stopped to check a silver colored car in the ditch in the 22,000 block of 31st Road. The car was secure and there was no damage to the vehicle.

Deputy responded to the 8,000 block of 326th Rd. for an animal complaint.

Individual requested to speak with a deputy about a phone call she received that she believed to be a scam. The individual didn’t give the caller any information about themselves and wanted us to be aware of the phone calls.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 10,000 block of 191st Rd for a report of a theft of a motor vehicle between 10:30pm on 1/25/18 and 11:00am on 1/26/18. A silver extended cab 2009 Ford F150 with KS veterans tag 61AND was stolen from the area.

Deputy responded to 400 Blk of Maple in Cambridge for a complaint. A resident in the area was upset over children in the neighborhood disturbing her horse. Parents of the children were spoken to

Cowley County Deputies responded to the 1000 Blk of 202nd Rd for an alarm call. Contact was made with the home owner and no signs of any entry were attempted.

An individual reported a large tree in the roadway at 16000 11th Rd.
County Road and Bridge were advised it needed removed.

January 27

A dark colored sedan was reported doing U-turns on US 77 Hwy in the 19000 Blk. The vehicle was not located.

Kelly Tredway and Jonathan Coday, both of Wichita, were arrested on outstanding warrant in the 10,000 block 191st Road.

Christopher Holloway of Winfield was arrested on an outstanding warrant and booked into the Cowley County Jail.

Deputy checked on a pedestrian walking in the 31,000 block of 51st Road. Everything was found to be okay with the individual.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of 52nd Rd and K-15 Hwy for a two vehicle accident. Shane Nichols and Lindsey Nichols both of Udall were the occupants of a 2013 Toyota Rav4. Mark Egger and Pamela Hosack-Egger, both of Andover, were the occupants of a 2013 Dodge Anvenger. Shane Nichols was cited for Following too Close.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of US 77 Hwy and 71st Rd for a two vehicle injury accident. Ruby Mills of Arkansas City was the only occupant of a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. James Weber and Shawn Weber of Arkansas City were the occupants of a 1971 Chevy Malibu. All occupants were transported to Wesley Medical Center by Winfield EMS with non-life threatening injuries. Mills was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident. Anthony Waldschmidt and a juvenile female, both of Oxford, were the occupants of a 1997 Chevy 1500 pickup when it left the roadway in the 2,000 block of 192nd Road. Occupants were not injured. No citations were issued.

Deputy took a report of a stolen rototiller from an address on Curtis Avenue in Winfield. The theft occurred sometime between the end of October 2017 and the first of November 2017.

Deputy was dispatched to Urgent Care in Winfield for a report of alleged abuse of a child.

A theft report was taken for theft of a gray Craftsman Rototiller in the 21000 Blk of Curtis Ave. in the Pleasant Valley area.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy took a report for assault in the 21000 Blk of Hoover Ave. in the Pleasant Valley area.

Report was made for a car/deer non-injury accident at 13000 131st Rd. Charles Hunter was driving a 2001 Subaru and struck a deer in the roadway.

Dwayne Booth was driving a 2013 Chrysler 200 when he was involved in a non-injury car/deer accident in the 2000 of US 166 Hwy.

Booker Jennings reported he was involved in a non-injury car/deer accident in the 26000 Blk of 51st Rd. Deputy responded and it was determined the damage was under a $1000; therefore, no report was required.

Deputy assisted a motorist with mechanical issues in the 1900 Blk of Wheat Rd. Vehicle had to be towed and the driver was given a ride to work.

January 28

Wichita Police Dept. requested assistance in making contact with a vehicle owner in the 7000 Blk of 168th Rd. Wichita Police reported that a silver Honda had been involved in a pursuit in the Wichita area. The Honda had a displayed tag that was expired and registered to a different vehicle. Request was made to see if the owner of the tag displayed on it knew it was missing. Owner of the tag was believed to be living in Cowley County but had moved and could not be located.

Cowley County Deputy assisted the Winfield Police Dept. with a traffic stop.

Car versus raccoon report at the intersection of 111th Rd and 102nd Road.

Deputy responded to the 20,000 block of 85th Rd for a Burglary report that occurred between 4:00pm on 1/27/18 and 8:00am on 1/28/18.

Deputy responded to the 17,000 block of 296th Rd. for a report of a mailbox being knocked down.

Deputy checked on a vehicle in the 22,000 block of 61st Road. The vehicle was secure with no one around.

Individual reported Harassment by Telecommunication Device in Dexter.

Deputy responded to US 77 Hwy and US 77 Bypass for a report of boxes in the roadway. The boxes were found to have come from KanPak. They were contacted and said someone would come pick them up.

Tomas Perez reported his vehicle was broke down in the 28000 Blk of US 166 Hwy and requested help. Perez was found to have a warrant for Fail to Comply With Citation. He was arrested and taken to the county jail.

Cowley County Deputy assisted Winfield Police Dept. on a disturbance in the 600 Blk of E. 14th. It was reported the suspect had left and was armed with a handgun. It was later determined to be an airsoft pistol.
