Christina McDonald Named New Cowley County Undersheriff; Scott Promoted

Christina McDonald is Cowley County’s new undersheriff, Sheriff David Falletti announced Monday. She replaces Jeff Moore, who retired last week.

McDonald started her law enforcement career in 2000, as a dispatcher with the Arkansas City Police Department.

She started working for the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office as a part-time corrections officer in 2001, and moved to a full time position in 2002. In 2004, McDonald transitioned to a full-time deputy and attended the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center.

McDonald has worked as a deputy, drug task force deputy, a sergeant in Investigations and Lieutenant of Investigations.

She has an associate’s degree from Cowley County Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Ft. Hays State University. Her training has mainly focused on Forensic Interviewing, Leadership Supervision and Crime Scene Investigations.

She is the Treasurer for the Child First Board, a member of the RESPECT board and just recently completed a six-year term on the Leadership Cowley County Board.

Tommy Scott has been promoted to Investigations Lieutenant.

Scott has been in law enforcement since 1984, starting as a Reserve Police Officer in Arkansas City. He became a full-time Police Officer for Arkansas City in 1988, and rose to the rank of Assistant Chief, before retiring in 2012.

Scott then came to work for the Cowley County Sheriff in 2012, and most recently has been the Sergeant in Investigations.

Scott has a Bachelor’s Degree, from Central Christian College and has attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy.

He has an extensive law enforcement background and has attended numerous Supervisory schools.

Falletti said he is fortunate to have dedicated and knowledgeable leaders to assist him in moving the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office into the future.

“These two will assist me in making sure that we put victims of crime first, which is one of my main priorities”
