USD 470 Official: Students Safe, Classes Go On, Threats Unfounded

UPDATE 8:42 a.m. – Statement released by spokesperson Alisha Call:

“We’ve received several calls from parents concerned about reported threats at Arkansas City Middle School. Local law enforcement is aware of these reports and has investigated the matter. At this time we believe the report was unfounded and school will proceed as scheduled. As always, we appreciate your interest in the safety and well-being of Ark City students. Please continue to report anything concerning.”

School is continuing as scheduled in Ark City this morning after police investigated reported threats that they determined to be unfounded, according to USD 470 spokesperson Alisha Call.

The district planned to release some additional information soon, she said. However, the school day was proceeding normally this morning and there were no lockdown situations at local schools.

NewsCow and KSOK News received calls this morning when a number of police vehicles were visible at Ark City Middle School.

Call said that police presence has been upped throughout the district in recent weeks. There was determined to be no threat to student safety this morning.
