Search for Nebraska Stolen Car Leads To Arrest Of 3 In Ark City

The Arkansas City Police Department arrested three people Thursday afternoon in connection with a vehicle reported stolen out of Nebraska.

Corey Nicholas Decker, 18, of Lincoln, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of stolen property with a value of more than $1,000, as well as one misdemeanor count each of consumption of alcohol by a minor, possession of drug-use paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Decker also was arrested on two misdemeanor counts of contributing to a child’s misconduct.

He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail with bond set at $6,300 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. Decker remained in custody Friday.

Two Arkansas City juveniles, aged 17 and 16, also were arrested on suspicion of consumption of alcohol by a minor and later released to the custody of their parents.

Officers were informed Thursday that a white 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage with a Nebraska license plate had been stolen in Lincoln and was thought to be somewhere in the Ark City area, driven by Decker.

The vehicle was located and stopped by Arkansas City police and the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office while it was traveling northbound in the 700 block of South Summit Street.

Decker and the two juvenile suspects were inside the car. They were taken into custody and transported to the Arkansas City Police Department for processing.

A search of the vehicle found alcohol, drug paraphernalia, marijuana and illegal tobacco products.
