James Morgan

James “Jim” M. Morgan, 82, of Winfield, Kan., passed away Monday, March 26, 2018, at the Wellington Health and Rehab Center.

Private graveside services will take place at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.

James M. Morgan was born in Delaware, Oklahoma on June 2, 1935 to parents William L. Morgan, Sr. and Beulah K. (Fitzwater) Morgan. He attended Nowata schools. He moved to Winfield in 1957 and worked for the Ice Plant for 10 years. In 1967 he worked for Sheneman’s Packing Plant for 20 years. He was also a custodian at First Presbyterian Church for 10 years. He worked for the Winfield Daily Courier in the mail room and also had a rural paper route. He was with the Courier for 25 plus years.

Jim enjoyed going to garage sales and buying old bicycles to fix and sell in his younger years. He collected John Wayne and numerous other cowboys from the olden days. His favorite saying was “My Heroes have always been cowboys.” Jim enjoyed every job he had and was a dependable and dedicated employee no matter what he did.

He had a caregiver and special friend, Cheryl Hobbs, the last 10 years of his life. He lived at the Wellington Health and Rehab Center starting in February 2018 where they took good care of him until his passing.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers: William Morgan, Jr., Robert Morgan, Hubert Morgan and Delano “Tom” Morgan.
