Two Hurt Saturday Morning When Truck Collides With Train Near Udall

Two people were injured Saturday morning when the vehicle they were in was struck by a train in rural Cowley County.

Around 10 a.m. that day, Sheriff’s deputies and emergency crews were called to an area near 51st and 92nd Rds. for the report a vehicle had collided with a train. The location is southeast of Udall.

A black 1994, Toyota truck, driven by 46-year-old Sonphet Bounvongxay of Winfield was traveling west in the 5000 block of 92nd Road.

Sonphet failed to yield the right of way to the train and was struck, according to a report from the sheriff’s dept.

Sonphet and the other occupant in his vehicle, 63 year-old Thanongsak Keolakhonevong were transported to a Wichita hospital for treatment of injuries.
