Kansas Buffet Company Closes Ark City Restaurant Permanently

The Kansas Buffet Company in Ark City has permanently closed, less than a year after a rebranding effort.

A sign on the door Wednesday informed visitors that the business, at 2906 N. Summit, was closed. A man who answered the phone there said the closing was permanent and referred all other questions to the business’s parent company, Kelly Companies. So far, the California-based company has not responded to a request for comment.

Kansas Buffet operated as a Sirloin Stockade until the summer of 2017.

Owners of Kansas Buffet also operated Kansas Bar and Grill, near Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield. That location had been a Montana Mike’s until last year.

At the time, management said they had simply decided to end a franchise agreement to operate under the Montana Mike’s name. All Kansas locations of the restaurant were to be rebranded.

A sign at Kansas Bar and Grill informs customers that the restaurant has “closed for a future remodel.”
