Services Are Tuesday For Winfield Woman Who Died While Hiking In Texas

Funeral services are Tuesday for a Winfield woman who died while hiking in Amarillo, Texas last week.

Services for 50-year-old Colette Smith are set for 10 a.m. that day at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship. Miles Funeral Service has charge of the arrangements.

Smith was hiking with family Friday afternoon in Palo Duro Canyon when she failed to return, according to a news report from KAMR in Amarillo. It appeared she strayed from the trail and was found deceased by first responders.

An autopsy was performed and preliminary results indicated Smith succumbed to heat exhaustion.

A final report on her death is expected to filed at a later date.
