Winfield Teen On Bicycle Is Struck By An SUV Late Sunday

A 16-year-old from Winfield was injured late Sunday when he collided with an SUV while riding his bicycle in rural Cowley County.

Christian L. Evans was struck around 9 p.m. in the area of 101st Rd. and 132nd Rds. according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. He was riding his bike north on 101st Rd. when a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe approached.

The SUV had yielded to Evans to give him room on the roadway, however, Evans crossed the road toward the vehicle and was hit. 53-year-old Keith Peacock, of Winfield, was the driver of the Hyundai.

He and three passengers in his vehicle were not injured.

Evans was transported to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, according to the highway patrol.
