Braman Man Out Of Hospital After Being Injured In Horse-SUV Collision Near Udall

A 22-year-old Oklahoma man is out of the hospital and continuing to recover from injuries sustained when the horse he was riding was struck by an SUV Sunday on 21st Rd., also known as Cowley 3, near Udall.

Braden Hensley, of Braman, was dismissed Monday from Wesley Medical Center, according to a hospital spokesperson.

He had sustained head injuries in the accident, according to initial reports.

Around 5:20 p.m. Sunday, a horse and rider came from a private driveway west bound in front of a 2013 Ford SUV driven by 69-year-old Connie Starlin, of Oxford. Starlin was southbound on Cowley 3 and could not avoid the horse and rider, according to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Dept.

The accident occurred a few miles south of Udall. That collision led to the death of the horse. Hensley was thrown from the animal and landed in a ditch.

Starlin was transported to the Wesley ER in Derby for treatment. Hensley was transported to Wichita by air ambulance.

The accident is still under investigation.
