Quail Ridge Golf Course has been selected to host the Kansas State High School Activities Association Boys Golf State Championships.

The championships are slated for May 20, 2019 (4A Boys Golf State Championship), May 26, 2020 (6A Boys Golf State Championship) and May 24, 2021 (5A Boys Golf State Championship).

Championship contestants will play the 6,826 yard par 72 links style lay-out that features zoysia grass fairways, dense rough, multiple native grass areas, and firm and fast greens.

“The grounds staff is honored that KSHSAA has recognized our efforts to maintain Quail Ridge in championship condition over the last several years. We are excited for the opportunity to host the championships, and to provide a challenging venue, of the highest quality, for the top levels of high school golf competition in the state,” Jeff Aldrich, Golf Course Superintendent.

The championship fields will consist of 96 tournament contestants, hundreds of spectators, and several high school golf coaches. Brad Sexson and his staff will rely on volunteers to assist with scoring, parking, and hospitality.

“Hosting these State Championships will allow The City of Winfield, Quail Ridge Golf Course, and the many local businesses in Winfield the opportunity to show our visitors the outstanding hospitality our residents have become so familiar with,” Brad Sexson, Head Golf Professional.

“We are proud to once again be selected to host the (KSHSAA) Boys Golf State Championships. This goes to show the continued commitment and dedication our excellent staff provides to maintain our golf course at a level worthy of such distinguished competition.

We are excited to showcase our golf course and our community to all those who will attend these tournaments,” Jeremy Willmoth, City Manager.
