An Ark City teacher Thursday morning waived his right to a preliminary hearing and is scheduled to be arraigned in Cowley County Dist. Court in Ark City later this month.
28-year-old Ethan Dane Huff is accused of unlawful sexual relations with a female student. He was arrested on that charge last fall and bonded out of the Cowley County Jail.
Huff was suspended from all duties with USD 470 shortly after his arrest.
An investigation began when Ark City police officers were notified of a report of an inappropriate sexual relationship between Huff and a 17-year-old female at the high school, which is located at 1200 W. Radio Lane in northwest Arkansas City.
Police officials have said they worked to establish probable cause, resulting in Huff’s. State statute prohibits people with certain jobs – including teachers – from having sexual relations with those over which they have authority.
Huff is scheduled for arraignment at 9 a.m. Aug. 23 in Ark City.
