Open House Events Start Tuesday For Mobile Food Market

Several open house events are planned throughout Cowley County to celebrate the opening of the Anchor Mobile Food Market.

Save-A-Lot Food Store in Winfield serves as the hub for the grocery store on wheels, which sells fresh meat, fresh produce, dairy and more at various stops in the county. The open house events will include food or refreshments, games and give aways.

The Anchor Mobile Food Market will also be open during these events for regular shopping. The mobile market is meant to fill a gap in rural communities that lack a hometown grocery store.

They accept cash, credit or debit cards and EBT/Snap.

The first event is set for 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday in Dexter on Main at Dexter School. KSOK Radio will broadcast live from 3 to 5. Free hot dogs are served at 4.

On Friday, the mobile market is in Burden, at Joseph’s Storehouse, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will serve free hot dogs at noon. That same day the market is in Atlanta, on Main, from 3 to 5 in the afternoon. Free hot dogs are served at 4.

The final event is Oct. 6 in downtown Udall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free refreshments are served at 11.

At each location, the first 25 shoppers will receive a free loaf of bread. There will also be drawings for $50 in free groceries.
