UPDATE: Police Say Four Dogs Involved In Attack, Victim Now In Stable Condition

UPDATE: Sunday, 3:04 p.m.

Four dogs were involved in an incident early Thursday evening that left a 70-year-old Ark City man in critical condition, according to new information from the Ark City Police Department.

The man, Larry Bogner, was transported the by ambulance to South Central Kansas Medical Center momentarily before being taken by air ambulance to the Level I Trauma Center at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. His condition has since stabilized.

According to a witness sourced by the latest ACPD news release, the four dogs were on top of the victim in his backyard and attacking him. Police learned the dogs lived at the residence, and are owned by the victim and other residents there.

The dogs were loose after the attack, but officers were able to locate and capture all four animals.

They are mixed-breed dogs with different colors and fur lengths. All four dogs have been taken to the Cowley County Humane Society for a 10-day observation period.

UPDATE: Thursday, 10:11 p.m.

A family member of the man who was attacked says the victim is undergoing treatment in Wichita for a severe injury to his arm. The dog or dogs involved are said to belong to men who sometimes stay with the victim.

Authorities worked for some time to capture the animals and take them away from the residence.

UPDATE: Thursday, 9:38 p.m.

A man was injured this evening when he was bitten by at least one dog in an Ark City neighborhood. Local police and emergency personnel were at the scene.

The man, said to be in his late 60s, was taken to the hospital for further treatment. Initial emergency radio traffic indicated he was in critical condition and an air ambulance was arriving in Ark City to transport him to another hospital.

A representative of the Ark City Fire EMS Department told NewsCow-KSOK Thursday evening the victim was flown to Wichita via EagleMed.

A neighbor told NewsCow-KSOK near the scene the man appeared to be bleeding profusely as he was loaded into an ambulance.

The incident occurred in the 1100 block of N. 13th. Police remained in that area as of 7:30 p.m. and animal control was contacted.
