Jaws of Life Used To Free Ponca Woman After Crash Monday Morning

A Ponca City woman was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita in serious condition with head and neck injuries following a two-vehicle accident early Monday morning.

Misty Lynch, 39, of Ponca City, was transported to Wichita via AirEvac. She was pinned in her vehicle after the collision and was extracted by the Jaws of Life.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 5:21 a.m. Monday four miles north and two miles west of Ponca City on State Highway 11 in Kay County. A 2012 Chevy Silverado pulling a 14-foot bumper trailer driven by 27-year-old Garrett Sumter of Ponca City was eastbound when it departed the roadway right for an unknown reason. Authorities say Sumter over-corrected and re-entered the roadway causing the trailer to go into a broad slide into the westbound lane and was struck by a 2016 Toyota Scion driven Lynch.

Lynch was wearing her seatbelt, while Sumter was not.
