Sumner County Court: Winfield Man Formally Charged In Child Abuse Case

Fraley

A Winfield man, accused of abusing a young child, has been formally charged in Sumner County District Court in Wellington.

Michael Fraley was arrested Oct. 25 and released the next day on a $20,000 bond.

All three charges against him are felonies. Two are for aggravated battery and the other listed as abuse of a child.

Fraley, 22, is accused of causing fractures to a 9-month-old by recklessly jerking the child out of a bouncer chair about three times and breaking his legs with excessive force. On a separate occasion, Fraley also allegedly inflicted cruel corporal punishment by slamming the child to the floor causing serious injuries including spinal fractures.

The alleged crimes occurred Oct. 1 to 16 of this year. Sources tell KSOK-NewsCow Fraley was living in Oxford with his then-girlfriend and her child during that time frame.

On Nov. 30, Fraley was arrested in Cowley County, on an unrelated charge, for failure to appear at the Winfield Municipal Court. He was released on a $221 bond.
