Mary Schmidt

Mary Agnes Schmidt (82) of Arkansas City, went to meet her Lord and Savior on April 10th 2019 at the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire KS.

The Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Sunday )April 14, 2019) evening at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday also at the church. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Winfield.
Mary Agnes was born on her family’s farm near Geuda Springs, on March 26th 1937, to Daniel Patrick and Mary Frances (Olivier) McCorgary. Mary Agnes attended Sacred Heart Catholic school and graduated from Arkansas City Senior High School in 1955. Mary Agnes married Raymond F. Schmidt on June 13, 1974, and raised six children on their farm near Geuda Springs. Mary Agnes was an active, life long, member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member Rodeo-Etts, Sunflower Women’s Club and Sacred Heart Altar Society. Mary Agnes had many careers in her life. None more important than being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Mary Agnes instilled in her children and all she came into contact with the importance of faith, love of family and work ethic. She loved spending time with her family. She was an avid gardener and loved animals. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Cheryl) of Arkansas City, Raymond (Anna) of Overland Park, Mark (Theresa) of Moss Bluff, LA, Sheryl Schmidt of Ponca City, OK, Jody Barkley of Owasso, OK, Laurie Schmidt of Ponca City, OK, seven grandchildren, Brandy, Mark, Lakin, Meagan, Jarod, Chelsea, and Harley, ten great grandchildren Jordan, Raylee, John Lawson, Mac, Trinity, Tommy, Nixon, Aubin, Huxon, and Sutton, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary Agnes is preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Mae McCorgary, husband, Raymond F. Schmidt, infant child, sister Maurita Clark, niece Jane Davis, nephew Freddie Clark, niece Rita Ann Clark and great granddaughter Audra Marion.
Memorials have been established with either Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the school.
Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
