Verliand Ellis

Verliand K Ellis, 72, of Arkansas City, died peacefully surrounded by his family, Tuesday (April 23, 2019) at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday (April 27, 2019) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Parker Cemetery. Pastor Gale Rider will officiate.
Verliand was born march 17, 1947, in Arkansas City, to Kenneth H and Opal I (Hill) Ellis. He was reared and educated in Arkansas City High School and later Cowley County Community College Area Vo-Tech. Verliand volunteered for two tours of duty from 1967-‘70, for the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the “Brown Water Navy” in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart and a Presidential Citation for Valor. He married Susan L. Johnson on July 3, 1971, in Arkansas City. Verliand has worked for Rodeo Meats, John Deere, the Cowley County Road and Bridge Crew, John Morrell Meat Packing Company, the Total Petroleum Refinery and Grief Brothers Trucking retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Random Road Christian Church, Life member and Past Commander of the Shelton Beatty Post 18, American Legion, and Life member of the Spencer-Ralston Post 1254 VFW.
Survivors include his wife Susan of the home; daughter Trisha Ellis of Arkansas City; grandchildren Taygen Wilson and Taylor Wilson both of Emporia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Christopher Ellis, sister Patricia Schneider and a brother Wayne Ellis.
A memorial has been established with the Shelton Beatty Post 18 American Legion of Arkansas City. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory of Arkansas City.
