Barbara Jones

Barbara Rene (Marcotte) Jones, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior early Monday morning, May 6, 2019, after a short illness.  She passed away peacefully at Cumbernauld Village.

She was born in Moorhead, Minnesota on January 20, 1934. Barbara’s childhood homes with her family were in Montana, California and New Mexico. She was a member and Cornet player with Salvation Army in her teens.  Barbara married Jordan D. Jones in Bernallio, New Mexico in 1952 and she was a life-long resident of Wichita, Arkansas City and Winfield, Kansas. Barbara was active in her church and continued her bible studies after she entered retirement community living in 2003.  She especially enjoyed the hymn singing and bible lessons with visiting pastors.  Barbara loved dancing and was involved with senior’s dance groups for many years.

Although primarily a homemaker, Barbara enjoyed working part time in telephone sales, many years before telemarketing became a career option.  She enjoyed talking with all and people appreciated her humor and passion.  As a young mother, she was involved in support of Girl and Boy Scouts and served as PTA President.

Barbara is survived by her children: Linda Taylor (Miron), Winfield, KS; David Jones (Wendy), Apple Valley, CA; and haley hillton (George Zuk), Blaine, WA; her grandchildren: Austin Jones, Travis Jones and Melissa Baker, all of California, Justin Minor, Christopher Minor, Brandy Jones and Joshua Ancell, all from Winfield, KS; as well as her many nieces, nephews and 14 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents Charlotte (Johnson) and Joseph Marcotte, as well as her siblings: Leon (Bill) Marcotte, Marie Marcotte, George Marcotte and Michael Marcotte; and Jordan Jones who passed away in 1994.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at GracePointe Assembly of God, 902 7th Street, Winfield, KS 67156. No visitation or graveside services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to GracePointe Assembly of God of Winfield. Contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
