Jerry Aves

Jerry Lee Aves, 54, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at his home.

Born December 7, 1964 in Bloomington, Illinois, he was the son of Lavern and Geraldine Kay (Johnson) Aves. Being the son of a military service member, he was raised in many locations including Colorado Springs and Nevada, Missouri. He attended high school in Nevada before moving to Wellington, Kansas.

Jerry was united in marriage to Stephanie Brown on August 15, 1987 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield, where Jerry worked at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. To this union three children were born, the couple later divorced. He remained at the state hospital for over ten years until its closing in 1998. He then owned and operated Aves Majestic Cleaning before going to work for Creative Community Living. He was recently working for Mosaic. He enjoyed computer coding and gaming, woodworking, storm chasing, playing Dungeons and Dragons, medieval culture and history, and being with his children.

His family includes his daughter Megan Boggs and husband, John of Luther, OK; his sons, Mason Aves and wife, Molly of Winfield; Marcus Aves and wife, Jenae of Arizona; his step-son Michael Kolman of Wellington; his sister Sherry Clines and husband, Marty of Chanute; his grandchildren, Mikaela Boggs, Landon Evans, Logan Evans, Austin, Alliy, and Claire; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Anderson.

Memorial services will be held Friday, May 10, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Jerry’s name for Mosaic. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
