Jimmie R. Sandell age 81, passed away on Sunday May 19th, in Wellington, Kansas at Sumner Regional Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on April 3rd, 1938 in Caldwell, Kansas.
Jim found the love of his life and married Peggy Diane Brown on June 15th, 1957 in Medford, Oklahoma. Jim and Peggy moved to Wellington, Kansas and raised three children. Mike (Anna) of Wellington, Kansas, Jeff (Sonja) of Wellington, Kansas and Kristen (Stacy) Johnson of Austin, Texas. He is the grandfather to 9 grandchildren, Ryan Sandell, Aaron Sandell, Shelbe Sandell, Morgyn Sandell Cain, Garrett Sandell, Kyle Johnson, Trevor Johnson, Trey Johnson, Taran Johnson and 12 great grandchildren.
Jim served in the Reserves and worked for BNSF as a Conductor. Jim had a love for woodworking, he enjoyed making things for others to enjoy. Jim and Peggy enjoyed their retirement by occasionally making trips around the country and would visit the casinos. Christmas time at the Sandell home was a very special time, he would gift his “Bobby gifts” with extra special orneriness.
In honoring Jim’s wishes no services will be held. Cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
