Georgia Scadden

Georgia A. Scadden, 94, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, May 28, 2019 at the Kansas Veterans Home.

She was born January 14, 1925 to Richard and Margaret Livesay of Redding, Iowa, and was raised and received her education in Southwest Iowa, graduating from Maloy High School in Maloy, Iowa, followed by Gard Business School in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Eardley D. Scadden in Kansas City, Missouri in 1949. While traveling to California for their honeymoon, the couple spent some time in Colorado Springs and Denver, and decided to make Denver their home. While in Colorado, Georgia enjoyed being a homemaker, quilting, cooking, baking, and tending her flower gardens. She also worked as a bookkeeper for many years, retiring from the Samsonite Luggage Company. In 2002, the couple moved to Ashland, Kansas, to be near family. While in Ashland, Georgia volunteered many hours at the Tabitha House Community Store. In 2014,Georgia and Eardley moved to Winfield, Kansas with their daughter. Georgia and Eardley celebrated 69 years of marriage, and were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Winfield.

Her family includes her husband Eardley Scadden of Winfield; Kurt D Scadden and wife Enid of Dodge City, Kansas; Lee E Scadden of Ashland, Kansas; Vicky Sprengeler and husband Howard of Winfield; her grandchildren Rachel Knowles and husband Daniel of Minneola; Patrick Scadden of DeKalb, IL; and her great grandchildren, Simon Regier and Elizabeth Scadden.

In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee Livesay, Sherman Livesay, and Richard Livesay, and five sisters Laura Miller, Ethel Balderston, Madge Hanson, Gwen Kennedy and Margaret Rose Miller, and great granddaughter Lyra Regier.

Private family burial will take place in Colorado at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Georgia’s name for Trinity Lutheran Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
