Glen Stevenson

Glen R. Stevenson, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, May 29, 2019 at his home.

Born February 28, 1937 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Merle T. and Mary “Maxine” (Withiam) Stevenson. He was raised and received his education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1955. He began his career with Cessna Aircraft in Wichita on October 3, 1955.

He was united in marriage to Louise Annette Eastman on February 16, 1957 at Tisdale United Methodist Church. The couple made their first home in Mulvane before moving to the Akron community in 1959 to help his father farm. In 1968, the family moved to Derby, Kansas where Glen enjoyed coaching youth baseball. In 1980, Glen and Louise moved to Rose Hill. Glen remained at Cessna for over 40 years, retiring as a Supervisor in June 1996. He and Louise returned to the Winfield area in 1995 and built their retirement home on Louise’s family land.

Glen was a member of Tisdale United Methodist Church and served on the Tisdale Township board. He also served as President of Joseph’s Storehouse.

His family includes his wife Louise of Winfield; children, Rodney Stevenson and wife, Tracy of Wichita; Roger Stevenson and wife, Tonya of Claremore, OK; Cynthia Callaway and husband, Charles of Scranton; his sister Patricia Lemon of Winfield; brother Ronald Stevenson and wife, Sharon of Winfield; his ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and his loyal dog Dazy.

In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a son, Kirk Stevenson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Tisdale United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Rose Hill. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6. The family will greet visitors that afternoon.

Memorials have been established in Glen’s name for Tisdale United Methodist Church and for Joseph’s Storehouse in Burden. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
