Kora Martin

Kora “Kay” (Winegarner) Martin, 81, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Monday (May 20, 2019) at her residence.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday (June 1, 2019) at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Chapel of Arkansas City, Kansas.
Kay was born August 13, 1937, to William and Pearl E. (Dunlap) Winegarner. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating Arkansas City High School in 1955, and Arkansas City Junior College (Cowley College) in 1957. Kay was Queen Alalah in 1956, and was finalist in the Miss Kansas Pageant in 1957. She continued her education at the University of Kansas where she was a triple degree major, graduating in 1959. Kay, then accepted a scholarship to the Mayo Clinic of Rochester, Minnesota, to train as a physical therapist. Kay married Dr. George Arthur Martin in Arkansas City, on April 16, 1961. After graduation, she, her husband and two children Jeffrey and Kristin, moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, where Kora practiced physical therapy alongside her husband, an orthopedist. She continued to work for a total of 56 years in her field. Kay was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church. She was active in the community of the Ponca City, volunteering for the Ponca City Public Library, the Ponca City Garden Club and Little Light House for Disabled Children of Tulsa, where she made a difference in so many lives.
Survivors include her children Jeff and wife Stacey Martin of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Dr. Kristin Martin of Little Rock; four grandchildren Spencer Martin, Trevor Martin, Cody Andersen and Jacob Andersen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Bill Winegarner.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory of Arkansas City.
