ACPD: Suspected Counterfeiter Arrested Saturday, Reckless Driver Stopped Monday

The Ark City Police Department arrested an Ark City man Saturday on a pair of warrants and discovered alleged counterfeit currency on him, according to a news release Wednesday.

Lydell Adonis Loins, 22, was arrested on suspicion of counterfeiting and possession of a controlled substance, both of which are felonies, plus a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He also was arrested on an Ark City Municipal Court warrant for misdemeanor failure to appear, as well as a warrant for felony aggravated robbery and misdemeanor battery through Cowley County District Court in Ark City.

Loins was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield on a bond of $48,025. He remained in custody at the time of this release.

Officers conducted a traffic stop about 10 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of East Central Avenue. A passenger in the car, later identified as Loins, was found to have active warrants for his arrest and taken into custody. A search of his person turned up suspected counterfeit U.S. currency, consisting of seven $20 bills and one $100 bill.

The ACPD arrested another Ark City man Monday on multiple charges after a traffic stop for driving under the influence.

Wilder Hernandez, 27, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, driving under the influence of alcohol and interference with a law enforcement officer. Hernandez was transported to the Cowley County Jail in Winfield on a bond $50,000.

He also remained in custody at the time of this release.

Officers were dispatched Monday for a report of a vehicle being driven recklessly and nearly striking people. The reporting party indicated that the driver was suspected of alcohol impairment.

Police were able to locate the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop in the 700 block of North B Street.

The driver, who was identified as Hernandez, showed indications of being under the influence of alcohol. When officers attempted to place him in handcuffs, he began to resist arrest. Hernandez was taken into custody after a short physical altercation with the officers.
