Ark City Planing Street Closures For Road Work Next Week

Drivers and residents in south Arkansas City should be aware of a pair of street closures planned for next week on Mill Road and on South Summit Street.

Starting at 8 a.m. Monday, a traffic control provider will close the BNSF Railroad crossing on Mill Road to make repairs to the tracks and crossing. This closure will last through 5 p.m. December 13.

Those needing to access Sleeth Addition next week should plan on using South F Street to do so.

Also starting Monday morning, a contractor working for Kansas Gas Service will close one northbound lane of South Summit Street/U.S. 77, in front of KanPak, to work on a pipeline in that area.

This closure is expected to last between three and four days. The other northbound lane and both southbound lanes of South Summit Street are not expected to be affected by this work, however.

Kansas Gas Service also will be doing work on West Kansas Avenue sometime later this month, but that work also is not expected to result in a full street closure — only the closure of a lane or two.

The Public Services Department will be sealing cracks on South Sixth Street, south of Madison Avenue, during the next week or two, but this should not result in any permanent closures.

Crack sealing is also planned at a later time on Eighth Street. More information will be released when this work gets closer.
