WPD: Man Arrested For Throwing Knife At Woman At Winfield Fairgrounds

A 52-year-old man was arrested over the weekend at the Winfield Fairgrounds, following a reported domestic violence incident, according to information from police.

David Mansfield, a local man previously known to law enforcement, was arrested for aggravated battery, domestic battery, criminal restraint, and criminal damage to property. He remained in the Cowley County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon.

Around 3:15 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the fairgrounds, where Mansfield has been staying with his girlfriend.

Investigators learned that Mansfield threw a knife at the woman, causing an injury to the chest. Mr. Mansfield was reported to have hindered her attempts to leave the fairgrounds on foot.

He is alleged to have damaged the victim’s cell phone, which prevented her from calling law enforcement, according to a press release. The victim was transported to the William Newton ER, via EMS for her injuries. She was treated and released from there.
