A Winfield woman was killed Thursday east of Udall in a four-vehicle accident.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Hilary Archambeau died at the scene.

Three other people were transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita and treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.

Authorities say that just after 10 a.m., Archambeau, who was driving a 1996 GMC Yukon, crossed the centerline westbound on K-15 near 61st road, sideswiped an eastbound 2014 Nissan Altima driven by 74-year-old James Berry of Winfield, and was then struck by an oncoming 2017 Freightliner tow truck, driven by 25-year-old Dylan Verstraete of Turon.

A 9-year-old passenger was also in the tow truck.

A fourth vehicle, a 2019 Nissan Sentra driven by 29-year-old McKinzie Brown of Wellington, was unable to avoid the collision and struck the tow truck.

Verstraete, the boy and Brown were treated for injuries. Berry was not.

All except for the boy were reported to be wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Traffic was halted both directions at the scene for several hours into the afternoon. KHP releases names of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
