SCKMC To Add Ark City Clinic To Roster Of Medical Facilities

South Central Kansas Medical Center has announced that the Ark City Clinic will be added to the roster of current medical facilities that will be in partnership with the hospital, according to a press release from SCKMC Tuesday.

SCKMC is located just north of Ark City west of U.S. 77.

This new arrangement has been made possible by the combined efforts of the Ark City Clinic Physicians and staff, the Alliance Healthcare system, and SCKMC.

The agreement will have the hospital providing a managerial role for the clinic, with the possibility for a lease-purchase contract provided by SCKMC to provide new equipment and capabilities for Ark City Clinic.

“SCKMC believes that this partnership will be mutually beneficial for both the hospital and the clinic,” the press release stated. “The hospital aims to make patient experiences easier by transitioning from using service options outside of the community, to having results and procedures handled closer to home.

“This is absolutely critical for our community’s economic success as well, as over 11% of our population’s employment in Cowley County comes from the healthcare sector according to the Kansas Hospital Association’s 2019 report on the importance of healthcare to Cowley County’s economy.”

The move will also take a large amount of business responsibilities from the clinic’s physicians who will now be able to focus more clearly on providing quality healthcare solutions to their patients, the hospital said.

The arrangement will function very similarly to the current partnerships that the hospital has with area clinics such as South Central Kansas Clinic and Winfield Medical Arts, with the intention of being suitably transitioned by Feb. 17.
