WANTED: AC Police Looking For Pair For Car Dealership Burglary Last Fall

Ark City Police are looking for two suspects wanted in connection with a burglary last fall that involved the theft of three vehicles from a local car dealership.

Zakery Lee Bowyer, 35, of Wichita, and Andrew Douglas Kelley, 37, of Marion, are wanted on numerous charges related to the Sept. 26, 2019 burglary of Bulldog Motors, 800 N. Summit.

During the course of an investigation, police determined that two suspects, later identified as Bowyer and Kelley, had forced entry into the building and removed numerous items of paperwork and keys to vehicles on the lot.

Three vehicles were stolen:

A silver 2013 Kia Optima passenger car, which was found disabled and recovered Sept. 28, 2019, in the 15500 block of West 21st Street in Wichita;

A black 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck, which was recovered Oct. 1, 2019, at the intersection of West Marie Street and 44th Street South in Wichita; and

A gray 2015 Ford Explorer, which was recovered Oct. 3, 2019, near Kansas Star Casino.

Investigators worked for several months to piece together where the vehicles had been taken and who might have been driving them just prior to their recovery.

Detectives conducted recent interviews that helped to corroborate information they had collected since last September, and led them to apply for arrest warrants for Bowyer and Kelley on burglary charges.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of either Bowyer or Kelley is encouraged to contact the Arkansas City Police Department at (620) 441-4444.

Those wishing to remain anonymous also may contact Cowley County Crime Stoppers, which offers rewards of up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest.

The Arkansas City Police Department has started a new social media campaign this week, called “Wanted Wednesday.”
