ACPD: Newkirk Man Arrested On Battery, Domestic Violence Charges

The Ark City Police Department arrested a Newkirk man Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of battery and other charges after an altercation, according to a media release Thursday.

Jeremy Allen Cahoon, 26, was arrested on suspicion of two felony counts of criminal threat, as well as one misdemeanor count each of battery, battery-domestic violence, criminal restraint and disorderly conduct.

He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield on a bond of $50,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Ark City.

Cahoon remained in custody at the time of this release.

Officers were dispatched about 4:16 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a physical disturbance in progress in the 1300 block of North 13th Street. They contacted Cahoon and multiple witnesses at the scene.

Following interviews, police determined Cahoon allegedly had been in an argument with one of the victims, a 23-year old Ark City woman. Several witnesses reported hearing her scream for help.

Officers determined a physical altercation had occurred involving the female victim while she was holding a second victim, a 5-year-old boy. The child was battered in the process of this altercation.

The female victim also sustained injuries as a result of this incident, police were able to determine.
