Creekstone Farms Premium Beef Ark City is set to begin wastewater lagoon maintenance work this week that could create a strong odor, city officials said.
The work should start Tuesday at the plant located at 604 Goff Industrial Park Rd. It is expected to continue for two or three weeks.
“During this period, you may notice a strong odor in the area,” said City Manager Nick Hernandez. “This odor is harmless, although it may be somewhat unpleasant, and this will only be temporary.”
Creekstone will be removing sludge from the lagoons, which are located north of the processing facility between 252nd Road and Goff Industrial Park Road, and installing new lagoon covers afterward.
Creekstone officials apologize for any inconvenience this may cause area residents and ask for their patience as they complete this needed maintenance.
