On Friday at 12:35 p.m., Ark City police officers attempted to stop a 1991 Honda Accord.

The vehicle previously had been reported stolen out of Wichita on Wednesday.

After a short pursuit, the vehicle was located unoccupied by Cowley County sheriff’s deputies in the 2400 block of 276th Drive, just to the west of the city limits of Ark City running parallel to 23rd Street.

In addition to Ark City police, the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Highway Patrol, and Blue Line Trackers responded to the scene and commenced a search for the two occupants of the car.

Aukes was located and taken into custody without further incident, but the male suspect fled on foot.
