Ark City Walgreen’s Location Will Be Closing Its Doors In June

Walgreen’s in Ark City will close its doors permanently June 3. The store at 2100 N. Summit was constructed in 2007.

Pharmacy customers have been told that the company has an agreement with Dillon’s Pharmacy to begin filling prescriptions for Walgreen’s customers after the closing date. Customers can also contact Walgreen’s to arrange for another pharmacy to fill their prescriptions.

An employee at the store provided a reporter with a phone number for the company’s media relations department. A message seeking comment has not been returned, so far.

Last year, Walgreen’s announced a plan to close approximately 200 stores in the United States. The company operates nearly 9,600 stores across the country.

“As previously announced, we are undertaking a transformational cost management program to accelerate the ongoing transformation of our business, enable investments in key areas and to become a more efficient enterprise,” Phil Caruso, a Walgreen’s spokesman, told USA Today in August. “As part of this effort, we plan to close approximately 200 stores in the U.S.”

It was not immediately clear if the Ark City closing was linked to the previously announced closings or more recent developments.

Dollar General has also announced it’s closing its Ark City location by early summer.
