Rep. Roger Marshall won the Cowley County Republican primary and two incumbents will keep their county commission seats, according to unofficial results released Tuesday night by the Cowley County Clerk’s Office.
With all 61 precincts in the county reporting, Cowley County Commissioners Bob Voegele and Alan Groom defeated their primary challengers and have no Democratic opposition come November.
Voegele, the incumbent for the District 2 seat, defeated Gary Wilson 592-521. Groom, the incumbent for the District 3 seat, defeated Jim Sybrant by a wider margin, 1,087-558.
Marshall, who represents Kansas’ Big First in the House of Representatives, beat former Kansas Secretary of State and Republican candidate for governor Kris Kobach in Cowley County 1,741-1,183.
Marshall is projected to win the statewide Republican primary for the U.S. Senate.
Barbara Boiller cruised in her victory for the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate. Bollier, a former Republican, defeated Robert Leon Tillman in Cowley County 1,305-234.
Ken White defeated Richard Donovan Kautz in Cowley County 616-161 in the Democratic primary for State Representative 79th District.
