Three Injured In 2-Vehicle Accident Wednesday South Of Winfield

Three people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 77 highway south of Winfield, according to a report from the Cowley County Sheriff’s Dept.

Around 3:30 p.m., a 2012 Ford Focus, driven by Angela Davis, 45, Winfield, was northbound on US 77 and turned west toward Country Club Road. Davis’s vehicle traveled through the path of another vehicle.

A red, 1999 Mazda Miata, driven by 20-year-old Maya Damron, of Edmond, Okla., was traveling south on 77 and struck Davis’s vehicle.

A passenger in Davis’ vehicle, 47 year-old Winfield resident, Ty Brinigar was briefly trapped in the vehicle, was freed and then transported by ambulance to Wesley Hospital.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital for minor injuries. None of the injuries was life threatening, according to Cowley County Sheriff Dave Falletti.

Davis was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
